Vilnius: where the studio starts

Vilnius is the origin and the anchor. Rolandas Kliučinskas trained at the Vilnius Academy of Arts — his first commission, a small flower pavilion for the city, famously contained not a single right angle — and AV Architects (Almaty Vilnius Architects) remains headquartered in the city. The Užupis quarter, with its independence, human scale and unhurried life, is the openly acknowledged model for Esentai City in Almaty, the studio’s flagship 46-hectare district.

For Lithuanian clients this means a local architect with an unusual range: masterplanning and office landmarks, villas and penthouses, restaurants, product design — all delivered for two decades to a demanding international clientele, and now available at home with the same Italian material supply chain through INTERNI in Milan.

Esentai City — Užupis in Almaty

A 46-hectare “city within a city” whose rules of the game are borrowed from Vilnius’ Užupis republic: three-storey houses with roof terraces, an art gallery, a chess club, a local newspaper and a chamber concert hall. The quarter even involved Lithuanian artists and composers in its community life.

The studio’s editorial dialogue with Milan: the INTERNI Journal conversation and the Signature design-talk film, with the Italian brands and craft that now reach Lithuanian projects through the same channel.

Vilniaus dailės akademijos absolventas, AV Architects (Almaty Vilnius Architects) partneris ir vyriausiasis architektas, nuo 2003 m. daugiausia dirbantis Almatoje, Kazachstane: Esentai City kvartalo (46 ha) vyriausiasis architektas, East Gate City, White Tower, Kazakhmys būstinės, privačių vilų ir restoranų autorius. 2015 m. biuro darbai pelnė „Forbes Kazakhstan“ įsteigtą „Kazakhstan Architecture Award“ trijose kategorijose.
