Why Milan

Milan is where the studio’s material culture is made. AV Architects — the practice Rolandas Kliučinskas leads as partner and architect-in-chief — is headquartered in Vilnius with its people distributed between Kazakhstan and Italy, and Milan is the city from which Italian furniture, stone, fabric and craftsmanship enter every project. The relationship with INTERNI is central: its Design Experience programme connects architects with Italy’s finest brands and artisans and manages delivery and installation on site anywhere in the world.

The studio’s Italian references are not decorative. Little Italy in Almaty is an Italian-lifestyle residential quarter with Tuscan-inspired architecture; a villa extension draws on the massing of an Italian homestead; and the “Cloud” objects were developed with the Italian makers Clavis & Cincinno. Italian clients get an architect who has spent twenty years building with Italian products at full scale — and who treats Milan as home ground.
